An idea that popped into my head the other day. I wanted to do a picture that had an element of surprise, that sort of contradicted the rest of the picture, without being too obvious.
It was done mostly with MyPaint. First I did the lines, flats and backgrounds normally. Then I created a new layer for the shading, and shaded with pure black and white, copied that layer into a new picture and saved it as a transparent PNG. Then I switched to GIMP and added that layer on top of everything and set the layer mode to Grain Merge, so that the shading would appear as darker and lighter shades of the color on the layer below.
I'm quite happy with the clouds here, they're very realistic. I've found a fun (yet slow) way to make realistic clouds! Yay!

One thing is that the clouds all look a different texture.
I generally try to avoid that by doing them all at one.
i.e.: Draw the whites on all of them. Then due the shades one step at a time on each of them, etc.
